This 1979 100 Dollar gold coin from Belize, known as 'The Golden Christmas Star', is the country's first Christmas coin and the first ever minted in the Western Hemisphere. The coin features a stylized depiction of the Star of Bethlehem on the obverse, adorned with garlands inspired by Belizean flora including Angelonia ciliaris and Thelypteria obliterata. The reverse displays the national emblem with a mahogany tree, symbolizing its economic importance since the 17th century. Struck by The Franklin Mint on December 20, 1979, the coin contains 6.21 grams of fine gold (500/1000 purity) and was produced in proof quality with a limited mintage authorized by the Belize government. The coin is presented in its original sealed display with official certificates verifying authenticity and minting details.
